Wood and Metal Projects

This post is about a variety of projects I have done in wood and metal.

These pieces were both custom ordered and made from reclaimed lumber (from http://www.centurymill.com/) in Stouffville, Ont.  The entertainment unit's top two shelves are solid maple (with a bluish stain on them) supported by threaded rod and a hemlock base (pic 1).  The small console/ entrance table is also solid reclaimed maple with perforated steel shelf (pic 2).

Solid beech coffee table with recessed aluminum corner braces made as a wedding gift.

'Amy's bench' was originally commissioned by Red Box Design (http://www.red-box-design.com/) to store boots at their offices.  These days, it's use has expanded to house numerous toys and other fun stuff.  The bench top is solid maple with an accretion of layers of floral wallpaper from years gone by.  The layers were sealed in with a clear epoxy like sealer from a craft store. This piece of wood was salvaged from the chimney (apparently it was supporting the chimney - hard to visualize but that's the story I'm told) of a farmhouse my parents had in the 70's in Prince Edward County.

Finally, this cedar garden trellis was custom built for some family friends at their home in Unionville.  It's around 10' long by 7' tall and it's forged steel components were inspired by a car ad.
